Nobody Gives a Shit About Your Logo

  1. This is indeed a common designer complaint, but I do believe this is the first article I’ve read that cohesively explains why the “make my logo bigger” request isn’t improving a client’s website.

    Thanks!

  3. Your welcome Lauren. I think as designers there are a lot of reasons why we instinctively feel like something is wrong or a bad idea, but we have a hard time communicating or developing reasons why. Sometimes examining these common situations and developing the concrete thoughts as to why can really help in the feedback process.

  6. yeah, as much as the companies don’t want to believe it, nobody gives a shit about their logo. You make several valid points in this article, the main purpose of the logo is so that a user can immediately recognise where they are if they lose track of what site they’re on, very rarely do users make a conscious note of the logo for future reference

  7. Absolutely. I think it is really hard to break out of the “We want” mindset and get into “Our users wants…” which is ultimately most important. Happy users = more conversions. Trying to force anything on them is just going to send more people packing.

  8. Yeah i agree. There has always been a problem communicating for designers and the clients. I guess it all boils down to good design 🙂

  9. It is so nice that someone said it! I try to keep logos at 100px height. I have not yet seen the logo cream yet. I will look for that on the site after I post.

  10. yeah, I agree…a big logo is just a distraction…

  12. Yeah – who needs a logo when it takes up space on the page.
