Humanities Network

Background Project Overview

H-Net is a humanities based discussion network that originated as an e-mail newsletter (i.e. list serve.) Wanting to expand the networks capabilities they built a Drupal based social network. While the new platform was robust, the interfaces were confusing and experience frustrating. With a broad audience ranging from super techie to complete novice, users found themselves struggling to use and bond with the system.

The Design Our Solution

We improved clarity and ease of use by remapping key workflows and layouts. Throughout the interface we simplified the most common actions. Tasks that previously required four or five steps were reduced to one. We also rebranded the interface focusing on complementary colors, legibility, optimal use of space, layout flexibility and clean lines.
