Web Design & Web Strategy

Company / Personal News

I just wanted to make a quick post about the latest going on with my design/company career. A few months ago I was contacted by Dennis Lembree from the Web Axe Podcast, inquiring if I would be interested in starting Refresh Detroit with him. Refresh Detroit is part of the Refreshing Cities movement, which looks to spread usability, accessibility, and web standards through out the industry. I feel this is a great way to get involved in the community, as web designers tend to be a very open and communal group. This open atmosphere is no doubt a huge contributor to how fast the web has grown since its invention and adoption.

Dennis also asked if I would be interested in co-hosting the podcast with him at times, to which of course I was very eager and excited to do. After a few failed attempts to record the show over skype, we finally got software which captured half decent quality and up the podcast went. Download my pod-casting debuted today!

My hope is that these ventures will gain my company a little more exposure and credibility, in addition to aiding the community that has helped me get to where I am today. I can’t imagine where I would be if I had to try and learn XHTML/CSS/Ajax/etc simply through trial and error. We are very lucky as an industry to have so many great teachers and open forums for information.

That is all for now. I have an idea for my own podcast, which I will probably start shortly (it is semi dependant on clients.) I think it should be interesting, so stay tuned for that.

Since inception, this blog has covered a plethora of topics. Excited by all things design, I spent six years with out a focus. A year ago I discovered my true passion... designing with psychology (primarily as it related to the web). Many thanks to my Web Design Agency, 3.7 DESIGNS that gifts me time to publish my findings.
